Why I built OppDesk

I started buying and selling small businesses in 2008.

Like most buyers, I assumed the hard part would be evaluating deals, securing financing, and negotiating terms. It wasn't. The hardest part was simply finding opportunities before everyone else did.

Over the years I spent countless hours combing through listing sites, Craigslist, Facebook groups, broker emails, industry forums, and dozens of niche marketplaces. Some days I was hunting for a specific type of business. Other days I just wanted to know what was coming onto the market in industries I cared about.

The problem was always the same: there was no reliable way to keep watch.

Staying informed meant checking the same sites over and over, hoping I hadn't missed something important. And even then, I was usually late — the good listings had already been shopped to a broker's buyer list before they ever hit the public sites.

That's why I built OppDesk.

OppDesk continuously monitors business listings from across the market and surfaces opportunities the moment they become available. Whether you're actively hunting for a specific acquisition or waiting for the right business to appear, OppDesk does the watching for you.

It's the platform I wish I'd had in 2008.
